Anesthesia

The department of Anesthesia at SIUT provides round the clock services in anesthesia, critical care and pain management. It is recognized for postgraduate training by the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Pakistan.

Anaesthesia is provided for transplantation (renal and liver), Urology, Endocrinology, Paediatrics, Hepatobiliary and General Surgery, Daycare and Vascular Surgery. Aneasthesia outside the operating room is given for Lithotripsy, Brachytherapy and nHIFU, Radiology, Radiation Therapy and Animal Laboratory.

A twenty four hour aneasthesia emergency cover is present in all theater complexes.

State-of-the-art Aneasthesia equipment aids to achieve highest standards of care and safety for the patients. Surgical ICU and high-dependency unit and Transplant ICUs come under the domain of the department of anesthesia.where competent and skilled doctors provide updated intensive care for critically ill patients which include both adults and peadiatric groups.

Pain Management

Pain management services are for acute and chronic pain. It is widely practiced by trained pain management experts in the department.

The pre-operative assessment team not only reviews and optimizes around 600 patients per month in clinic but also evaluates patients in wards.

Academic activities are actively conducted by the department at frequent intervals as seminars, workshops, CME and lectures. Teaching and training is offered to junior anesthetists, medical technologists and paramedics working in SIUT.
