SIUT Extends Training Facilities to Sudanese Doctors23 Sep, 2011

Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) has completed a highly specialized training program for a group of six doctors from Sudan in the field of Nephrology.

The training program for overseas doctors is a series of program initiated by SIUT in order to cater of many developing countries in highly specialized fields including urology, nephrology and transplantation.

Being a pioneer institution in the country as well as in the region in the field of transplant surgery of renal diseases the SIUT has already trained a good number of doctors from Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.

Giving a warm send off to the doctors at the completion of their training program, Dr. Adib Rizvi Director SIUT held out an assurance that doors of SIUT will remain open for overseas doctors to avail the training facilities. He underlined the need of sharing experiences particularly among the members of medical profession representing the developing countries.

The gesture of extending training program on the part of SIUT was acknowledged by Dr Abu Bakr who was visiting Pakistan in his capacity as an external examiner from Sudan for other medical institutions.

Dr Suhair Abdel Rahim speaking on behalf of his group complimented the high standards of training at SIUT. Dr Suhair is a practicing nephrologist in a teaching hospital of Khartoum.

While thanking the SIUT for providing free of cost training facilities to his group of doctors Dr Suhair pointed the high cost of medical education for Sudanese doctors interested in obtaining postgraduate training facilities in the developed world.

He said training program at SIUT with its outstanding teaching staff and excellent research facilities has not only proved an important breakthrough but also opened avenues for future cooperation.
