Karim
Baksh is 60 years old and hails from Kandh Kot
in Jacobabad where he farms on a small plot of land. From
the meagre earnings that he derives, Karim has to support
not only nine children but a total of 20 family members!
Early this year, Karim began complaining of acute pain in
his lower back. He was then taken to several local hospitals
for treatment until he was finally diagnosed with bilateral
kidney stones. Unable to afford any kind of treatment, he
was referred to SIUT where he was promised world class treatment.
Once at SIUT, Karim’s renal functions were normalised
after which he underwent two lithotripsy sessions to remove
stones from his right kidney. Then, due to a greater number
of kidney stones in his left kidney, he was recently operated
upon and is recovering well.

But Karim Baksh is just one
of over 19 million Pakistanis suffering from kidney stones.

sessions on over 2,600 patients.

We also perform advanced PCNL, Laser and

These treatments cost us approximately 5,000 to 10,000 rupees

We treat close to 600 kidney stone patients every week at
our Stone outpatient clinic, totalling to over 25,000 patients
every year.
